Inside Out Beauty

Celebrating Beauty That Makes You, YOU!

We are surrounded by beauty all around us.  This week we are exploring your individual beauty - taking the time to celebrate your own beauty that makes you YOU.
How is VENeffect unique from other anti-aging skin care lines? We are a beauty and wellness company that’s been founded by women — for women specifically to address the unique way we age. While there are many anti-aging products on the market today, VENeffect approaches beauty from the perspective of overall wellness, and hormonal wellness in particular.  Founded by two sisters, a gynecologist and a beauty industry veteran, VENeffect is designed to enhance the glow of peak vitality.   You can read more about the Venus Lifestyle in Dr. Booth’s book The Venus Week, and on our website and weekly blogs.

You might have heard the saying that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it’s completely true. Do not skip it. Skipping meals can result in an insulin surge when you eat later in the day, contributing to an imbalance in hormones. The challenge in the morning is that most breakfast foods are loaded with carbs – exactly what you don’t need in the morning. Bagels, pastries, even cereal are often dense carbs and simple sugars that further spike insulin and send you crashing a short time later.  This affects your energy level and shows in your skin.  There is a very simple and delicious solution!
In previous posts we’ve discussed the benefit of starting your day with protein.   There are numerous ways to achieve this that also save time and take the guesswork out of a healthy start to the day.  Yogurt is a great option – with protein as a wonderful early energy source for the day.  Other benefits of yogurt include Vitamin D & Calcium as well as probiotics that help with digestion.  The key is to avoid brands high in sugar.  This is easily accomplished by opting for plain yogurt and adding in healthy additions, such as fruits and seeds. The plain varieties come in a larger size that you can pre-blend with a touch of vanilla extract and sweetener, having it ready to go each morning. Simply sprinkle fresh blueberries, a tablespoon of flax seed or chia seeds, or stir in natural peanut butter, and you are off to an amazing start to your day!
Vanity is not always a negative.  That which makes us naturally beautiful is almost always good for our health. Interestingly, but not surprisingly, physical beauty attributes are often associated with fertility and hormonal balance, such as clear skin, a narrow waistline, and healthy hair. Our skin is at its peak during the peak estrogen phase of the cycle – giving us a glow around the time of ovulation.  The Venus Effect is our program to achieve that glow throughout the month and throughout our lifetime.  Changing and adapting the skin care regimen as we age is key. VENeffect products are powered by an amazing and powerful natural mimic of that estrogen our skin so craves.  Our phytoestrogen technology is plant-based and inspires collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production – the building blocks of younger-looking glowing skin.
One of the more overlooked areas of the face that is dramatically affected by shifts in hormones is the skin on and around the lips.  The skin of the lips is delicate and thin and constantly in motion. The skin around the lips is affected by loss of elasticity, ultimately resulting in small vertical lines.  Our Anti-Aging Lip Treatment, loaded with wonderful emollients and nourishing ingredients soothes the lips, while our potent phytoestrogens improves the quality of the skin, dramatically enhancing elasticity to reduce and prevent vertical lines.  We’ve even added a pleasant yuzu-ginger-cucumber flavor to make it more enjoyable to use – morning and night, and as needed in between.  Most of our clients carry the tiny powerful jar along with their lipstick and reapply before adding the high pigment colors that can also dry or irritate the skin.  We also have a number of men using our lip treatment as it doesn’t have the sticky or glossy feel that so many balms and treatments have.  This little wonder has been so popular that the famed Good Housekeeping Institute named it a top anti-aging product, one of only 20 products recognized in their Anti-Aging Awards for the top skin care products on the market.
In her book The Venus Week, VENeffect Co-Founder Dr. Rebecca Booth provides the foundation for what you need to put into your body to not only look but also feel beautiful. Your body is a garden. Like all valuable and beautiful gardens we need to ensure that we cultivate and protect our bodies from our environment. Therefore you need to be an attentive gardener and make sure that you are getting the right nutrients to nourish your body. Below you will find our Venus Effect Shopping List that outlines the basics that will allow your body to grow and flourish. You can also download this supplement list from our website.
